Mosteller American Gemstones proudly serves North Carolina and the rest of the world.
Whether you’ve never purchased precious gemstones before or are constantly on the lookout for a new stone to add to your collection, at Mosteller American Gemstones, we are experts at finding and refining the most beautiful gemstones in North Carolina. Although we are a new company, we have already started to develop a reputation as being the #1 source in the area for high-quality and rare gemstones of all shapes and sizes. If you have been looking for a ruby to create a new pair of gemstone earrings or a set of birthstones to create a necklace to represent your children’s birth months, we will help you select the right gemstones for your creation.
At Mosteller American Gemstones, we keep most American gemstones in stock. However, if you want a rarer unique stone, like alexandrite or tanzanite, we can order it for you. The majority of our gemstones are also natural gemstones. This means that they have been found in the rivers and mountains of North Carolina, Georgia, Virginia, and Tennessee, and they have not been treated with heat or oils to create fake luster or shine. We strive to keep them in their natural and authentic form so their value is not compromised.
If you find a stone that you absolutely love but it is the wrong shape or size for a piece of custom jewelry, we will cut the stone for you to fit the piece’s exact specifications. We can also set the stone for you in silver or gold to create a beautiful accessory. As one of the most varied gemstone dealers in the area, we guarantee that the stones you purchase from us will always be beautiful and of the highest quality.
Contact us using the form on the right, or call us, and we would be happy to discuss your needs and find the perfect stone for you.
About Phillip Mosteller
My name is Phillip Mosteller, and I have been interested in gemstones all my life. I became somewhat of a rock hound when I was young. The items in my childhood collection were just rocks—nothing valuable—but I loved them, and they helped me recognize the beauty that could be found in the earth and ultimately helped me decide what I wanted to do for a living someday.
I grew up in North Carolina, surrounded by some of the richest gemstone deposits in the world. After several other entrepreneurial ventures in various industries, including landscaping, advertising, and selling books and antiques, I returned to my first love of gemstones. Currently, I focus on mining rough gemstones and then polishing and having them cut into beautiful pieces for my customers. I can also help you create custom jewelry to treat yourself or provide a unique gift for a loved one.
I mine most of the gems I sell myself, right here in the U.S., in the beautiful mountains and rivers of North Carolina, Georgia, Virginia, and Tennessee. Over the years, I have learned to recognize good gems by the way they feel and the way they look. To the untrained eye, they may seem plain and ordinary, but after I’ve worked my magic on them, you’ll be amazed at the beautiful creations that result. The most rewarding part of finding and selling gems is knowing when I’ve found something that, once cut and polished, will be indescribably beautiful.
I love all gemstones, with no preference for any particular stone or cut. However, the largest gem I ever found was a 23.5 carat amethyst, and that was incredible!
I consistently have many American gemstones in stock, and if you are interested in something rarer, such as alexandrite or tanzanite, I will gladly order it for you. Feel free to contact me to discuss the gems I currently have in stock or if you’d like to learn more about me and my passion for gemstones. I look forward to helping you see the beauty I see in this amazing earth that we are lucky enough to call home!
